My latest fashion editorial, Pastel Haze, is definitely a change from the style of editorials I typically create. Usually I am drawn to minimalist, classic fashion and neutral color palettes, but I kept thinking about glittery sparkles, silky sheens, and hazy, soft-focus imagery. I wanted to go all-out girly with pinks, pastels, candy, flowers, and crystals. I was over the dreary winter weather and ready for spring! I began prepping a moodboard and taking notes. I would need a killer team to collaborate with, and I knew just who to present the concept to in order to execute my vision.
Jessica Humerick is an immensely talented makeup artist and stylist. She was really excited about the theme, and ran with it while bringing in her own ideas and style to the shoot. She blew me away with the wardrobe she pulled and the makeup work she did. I was lucky to work with her! She invited her good friend Bryant Phelan to the shoot, who just so happens to be the designer of O'Faolain Leather. He was so great to have on set, helping style and pose. He brought some of his amazing handbags and accessories. They are all so unique and fun, and the craftsmanship is top notch. It was so cool to meet him and will definitely work with him again.

Last but not least was our beautiful model Paten Denton, with Sculp Agency and Explosion Model Management. Paten has a sultry, carefree, girl-next-door look that was perfect for the shoot’s mood. She was my first choice for our model and was so glad she agreed to be a part of our editorial!
A big part of my shoot inspiration were detail shots. I wanted to get plenty of close crops and accessory stills. I love pairing detail shots with fashion shots. It gives a nice visual break and provides more opportunity for still life styling.
One of the purposes of creating a fashion editorial is to submit it to magazines. There are so many independent fashion magazines that put out incredible content, and I love being a part of that community. Pastel Haze is included amongst other beautiful fashion stories in the April print issue of Dreamingless Magazine.
